CRUCIAL EDUCATION IN CHILD SAFETY

Over 1,600 pupils from primary schools across North Manchester will be taking part in a series of hard-hitting workshops tackling issues such as personal safety, crime and antisocial behaviour.

Organised by local charity the Children’s Safety Education Foundation (CSEF) and funded by Manchester City Council, the Crucial Crew initiative involves impactful, interactive sessions from the emergency services and local agencies.

The workshops will be attended by Year 6 pupils from 50 schools and will teach children about important issues that are often overlooked by the curriculum, such as basic first aid, road and fire safety, anti social behaviour and substance abuse.

During the ‘hands on’ events, children will be encouraged to think about their life choices and to take responsibility for their actions. They will have the unique opportunity to learn valuable skills from the professionals, through practical demonstrations and discussions in real life situations.

The workshops will be held at the Territorial Army Barracks in Gorton, and will include sessions from Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Services, Manchester City Council’s Antisocial Behaviour Action Team, Road Safety Unit and GMPTE.

The series of workshops will run from Monday 7th June to Friday 25th June.
